Fain, Merrick, Phillips Advance at MVC Individual Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Miss.—Daisy Phillips, Olivia Fain and Kate Merrick all advanced in the winner's bracket of the MVC Tennis Individual Championships today in Springfield.
Daisy Phillips defeated Mara Presot of Missouri State in the Flight 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Phillips will face Megan Webb of Drake tomorrow.
In Flight 7 singles, Olivia Fain defeated Kinga Kovacs of Bradley 6-4, 6-0. Fain would not be the only Panther Kovacs faced in today's competition. Kovacs defeated Morganne Borsh 6-2, 6-1.
Kate Merrick and Olivia Fain defeated Schoolcraft/Modesto of Valparaiso in the Flight 3 doubles 7-6 (7-4). The Panthers duo will take on Neville/Webb of Drake tomorrow.
Doubles matches will begin at 9 am tomorrow, followed by singles competition.
