CHICAGO, Illinois - The Loyola Ramblers won their seventh straight game with a 70-47 triumph over the University of Northern Iowa men's basketball squad on Sunday at Gentile Arena.

UNI (11-11 overall, 3-7 MVC) built a pair of five-point leads in the first half at 5-0 and 11-6. Following a layup by freshman Tywhon Pickford with 8:07 left before halftime, UNI held an 11-6 advantage.

Loyola (18-4 overall, 8-2 MVC) went on a 12-2 run to give the Ramblers an 18-13 lead with 3:48 left in the opening half.

Loyola's Clayton Custer scored eight of his 13 first-half points in the final 2:29 of the first half. Custer would finish the contest with game-high 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor.

The Ramblers took a 26-19 lead into the intermission.

Offensively, the Panthers relied heavily on senior Klint Carlson in the second half. Carlson shot 6-of-9 from the field and scored 14 points in the second stanza. Carlson buried a pair of triples in the final 20 minutes.

Carlson hit a jumper with 14:33 left to cut the Rambler lead to 37-28. The Panther defense followed with three straight stops, but could not convert on the offensive end. Loyola's center Cameron Krutwig scored on a layup with 11:47 left remaining in the game to put the Ramblers back on top by double-digits.

UNI shot 36.5 percent (19-of-52) from the floor, while Loyola made 51.0 percent (25-of-49) of its shot on the day. The Ramblers shot 7-of-14 from three-point range. UNI buried only four of 21 shots from the 3-point arc.

The Panthers will be back in action Wednesday in Evansville, Indiana, against the Evansville Purple Aces. Tip is set for 7 p.m. at the Ford Center.
