Doubles Squads Shine Sunday at Gopher Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Northern Iowa doubles squads shined brightly on Sunday on the final day of the Gopher Invite hosted by the University of Minnesota.
The UNI duo of Reghan Lynch and Gisela Kemper won the No. 6 doubles bracket by posting two victories on Sunday. Lynch and Kemper went the distance in a semifinal matchup vs. North Dakota's Carmen Palumbo and Zahra Finnigan before scoring a 7-6 tiebreaker triumph. Lynch and Kemper captured the bracket with a 6-1 victory over Nebraska-Omaha's Rylee Tucker and Clare Crockett.
Savanna Hunt and Kate Merrick bounced back from a semifinal defeat to take third place in the No. 7 doubles bracket. Hunt and Merrick fell 6-4 to South Dakota State's Morgan Brower and Sidney Brower in their first match of the day. Hunt and Merrick then toppled North Dakota's Jaylee Yasunaga and Alex Revenig, 6-4.
Harri Proudfoot and Valentina Caro also captured third-place honors in the No. 8 doubles bracket. South Dakota State's Emily Van Dijk and Katerina Tertyakova posted a 6-1 win over Proudfoot and Caro in the semifinal matchup. Proudfoot and Caro responded with a 7-6 tiebreaker triumph over North Dakota's Msaha Lobanova and Isa Sullivan to take third.
