
UNI Tennis to Compete at Gopher Invite

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team will compete at the Gopher Invitational Sept. 22-24, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
Play each day will begin with two doubles matches, followed by singles. In the case of inclement weather, one match of doubles will be played. Ten different teams will compete this weekend, including the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Marquette, North Carolina State, Nebraska, Drake, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa State and South Dakota State.
The matches that are played on the inside courts will be streamed on Gopher Sports.
About the Gopher Invitational
The format of the tournament will be six 16-player singles flights with two rounds on Friday, one round on Saturday and one round on Sunday. Scoring will be best-out-of three, no-ad scoring with a match tiebreaker if the sets are split.
There will be a daily four team doubles draw starting 4 p.m. Thursday. The scoring for doubles will be one set, no-ad scoring with a tiebreaker at 6-6.
Draws will be final as the tournament begins 4 p.m. Thursday. Play will begin 8 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Panther tennis team was in action last weekend at the Drake Invitational. Freshmen Reghan Lynch and Kate Merrick won their respective consolation brackets.
