UNI Soccer Jumps to #12 in United Soccer Coaches Poll

Midwest Coaches Poll
Cedar Falls, Iowa--The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team ranks at #12 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
This is the highest ever ranking for the UNI women's soccer team. Last week, the Panthers came in at #14. The Panthers aren't the only Missouri Valley team in the poll. Loyola Chicago sits at #15.Â
"We appreciate the acknowledgment in the Midwest Region Rankings," commented UNI head coach Bruce Erickson. "We are looking forward to starting MVC play this Saturday."Â
In the NCAA rankings, MVC Offensive Player of the Week Sarah Brandt is tied for the no. 1 spot for game-winning goals. Brandt has had four game-winning goals this season and leads the MVC. Junior goalkeeper Jami Reichenberger sits in a tie for the no. 4 spot in shutouts this season and leads the MVC, with six shutouts.Â
MVC Defensive Player of the Week Haley Smith and the Illinois State Redbirds come to Cedar Falls on Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. to open MVC play.Â

Brynell Yount is no. 4 in the MVC with shots during a game, averaging 2.71 shots per game.Â
Brandt and Yount are no. 1 and 2 respectively in points made during a game. Brandt has 14 points, averaging 1.56 per game, while Yount has 10 points, averaging 1.43 per game.Â
Reichenberger leads the MVC goalies in three categories. Reichenberger has allowed five goals in nine games, having .542 goals against average. Reichenberger has 32 saves for a .865 save percentage.Â
UNI has scored 1.89 goals per game while holding their opponents to .56 goals per game. UNI has 14 assists on the season to their opponents seven.Â
