Softball Fall Ball Begins Wednesday vs Kirkwood

The University of Northern Iowa Panther softball team will take to the field this Wednesday with its opening game of the season against Kirkwood Community College.
The matchup between the UNI Panthers and Kirkwood Community College Eagles will take place at the Robinson Dresser Complex in Cedar Falls. First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m., and the game is scheduled for 10 innings.
The Panthers are excited to get back on the field, with pitcher Jaclyn Spencer saying, "as a team we have been working very hard on and off the field" to prepare for the season in the spring. The team will have a chance to show off all that hard work on Wednesday against Kirkwood.
The Panthers are coming off an excellent season in which they had 33 wins, and went 20-6 in capturing the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title. Â UNI is looking to build on a season that saw them make it all the way to the MVC Tournament championship game.

The Panthers will begin their fall slate against Kirkwood Community College, on Wed., Sept. 12, at Robinson-Dresser Field.
Their schedule will include a dual with Clarke University on Sept. 20, at 5 p.m., a Sunday matinee game against Upper Iowa University on Sept. 24, at 1 p.m., and on Sept. 27, the Panthers will take on Iowa Central Community College at 4:30 p.m.
UNI will travel to Iowa City to take part in the All-Iowa Classic from Sept. 29-Oct. 1. The Panthers will begin the tournament with a game against University of Iowa at 6 p.m. on Sept. 29. The Panthers will play two games on Oct. 1, going up against Iowa State University at 10 a.m. and end their day with a head-to-head against Drake University at 12:30 p.m.
UNI will return home to close out their fall season against DMACC on Oct. 5Â at 4:30 p.m.
The annual softball HIT-A-THON returns, and will take place at Robinson Dresser Complex in Cedar Falls, on Thu., Oct. 5Â at 5:30 p.m. The HIT-A-THON helps to raise money for the UNI softball team, and is a great way for the community to get involved.
