UNI to Begin Charging for Parking in Non-PSC Lots
8/17/2017 3:55:00 PM | Football, PSC
The University of Northern Iowa department of athletics will begin charging to park for non-Panther Scholarship Club parking lots for the 2017 Panther football season. The cost to park cars and trucks will be $5, while the cost to park RVs and buses will be $10.
"We did not enter into this decision of charging for parking lightly," UNI Director of Athletics David Harris said. "However, the overhead cost of a football game day and running the UNI-Dome 365 days a year continues to rise. We've chosen to take this step in order to defray some of these expenses and continue to give Panther fans an exciting game day experience. Ultimately, we chose a price point that is consistent with other members of the Missouri Valley Football Conference."
UNI will become the fifth MVFC school to charge for parking during football games.
MVFC Parking Fees
Illinois State - $10
North Dakota State - $5
South Dakota State - $10/$5
Youngstown State - $5
PSC members at the purple level and higher receive a parking pass that will allow them to continue to park free of charge for home UNI Panther football games, in their assigned lots.
PSC members are parking in the best parking available on game day based on their level of giving. PSC members will have to pay if they choose to park in a lot open to the public.
"We want to reward our loyal PSC members for their continued support of Panther athletics," Harris said.
UNI students with UNI parking permits will continue to park for free in their designated lots during Panther football game days.
UNI will open its home portion of the 2017 season on Sept. 9 when the Panthers take on Cal Poly in the UNI-Dome at 4 p.m.
