UNI Wrestling: 2 Panthers Earn AA Freestyle Honors

AKRON, Ohio – Two Panthers earned All-America honors in the freestyle division at the UWW University Nationals tournament that finished up today.
To participate, wrestlers must be between the ages of 17-27 and be enrolled at an institution of higher learning or have graduated in the previous year.
Max Thomsen was UNI's top place winner with a fifth-place finish in the 70-kilgram weight class, and Jacob Holschlag took eighth in the 86-kilgram weight class.

Thomsen is one of two returning All-Americans for UNI. As a redshirt freshman, he took fifth place in the 149-pound weight class at the 2017 Division I NCAA Championships. It was the highest finish of any UNI freshman since Mark Schwab's fifth-place finish in 1986.
After moving up to 197 pounds from the 184-pound weight class midseason, Holschlag took third place at the MAC Championships to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. He is among the six NCAA qualifiers returning to the Panther squad next year.
