UNI Soccer Unveils 2017 Schedule

2017 UNI Soccer Schedule
The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team will play nine home regular season matches during its 2017 season under new head coach Bruce Erickson.
The Panthers' first home action will occur on Sat., Aug. 5, at 6 p.m., when they play host to their annual Purple and Gold intrasquad scrimmage. UNI will take part in a pair of road exhibition contests on Aug. 9 at Western Illinois and Aug. 15 at Minnesota State, Mankato.
UNI's regular season opener will be Sun., Aug. 20 at Chicago State. UNI will also travel to Nebraska-Omaha on Fri., Aug. 25 and to South Dakota on Sun., Aug. 27.
UNI will play its first home regular season match of the season on Fri., Sept. 1, at 7 p.m., against the North Dakota State Bison.
Following the matchup vs. the Bison, UNI will play three more consecutive home matches. UNI will take on the Big 12's Kansas State Wildcats on Sun., Sept. 3, at 1 p.m. UNI will square off against South Dakota State on Fri., Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. and then take on the Montana Grizzlies on Sun., Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.
After a road trip to take on the Northern Illinois Huskies on Fri., Sept. 15, UNI will play four straight home matches. The Panthers will play host to North Dakota (Sept. 17, 1 p.m.), Illinois State (Sept. 23, 1 p.m.), Evansville (Sept. 30, 1 p.m.) and Viterbo (Oct. 2, 6 p.m.)
The Panthers then must navigate four road matches against Missouri Valley Conference foes in Missouri State (Oct. 7, 2 p.m.), Drake (Oct. 10, 7 p.m.), Valparaiso (Oct. 14, 7 p.m.) and Loyola (Oct. 21, 5 p.m.)
UNI will wrap up MVC play by playing host to the Indiana State Sycamores on Thurs., Oct. 26, at 4 p.m.
The 2017 MVC Tournament will get underway Oct. 29 with quarterfinal play. The semifinals will take place Nov. 3 with the championship match set for Nov. 5.
In 2016, the UNI Panther women's soccer team earned its highest finish ever in the MVC by earning the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament. UNI had six players earn all-conference recognition – the most in the program's history. UNI set single-season school records for points (67), goals (27), goals per game (1.42), shots (250) and shutouts (7). UNI's eight wins tied for the second-most in school history behind the 2003 squad's total of 10 victories.
