Walski Earns MVC Good Neighbor Award

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Thrower Brad Walski is set to receive the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award, it was announced today by the league office.
Walski is one of 10 student-athletes from the MVC that have been named by Commissioner Doug Elgin as the honorees for the 2016-17 Spring season. In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition.
Walski, a Trempealeav, Wis., native, has a cumulative 3.34 GPA and will graduate in May with a degree in manufacturing technology: advanced manufacturing along with a technology management and manufacturing design minors.
He has been an active member of the Cedar Valley community since stepping foot on campus, volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club on numerous occasions. He is also active in the Junior Panther Day, Panthers Play Program, Panther Read Events and is also a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative.
During the 2017 season, Walski has moved into the UNI history books by ranking No. 4 all-time at UNI in the outdoor hammer throw, No. 3 in the indoor shot put and No. 5 in the indoor weight throw. He earned all-conference in the weight throw during the outdoor season and is currently ranked in the top-eight in the Valley in the shot put and discus along with a No. 1 rank in the hammer heading into the final weekend of regular season action.
Walski and the Panthers return to competition on Friday, May 5 when they take on the Wisconsin Twilight. It serves as the final regular season meet before the Panthers head to Wichita, Kan., for the MVC Outdoor Championships, May 12-14.
