
UNI Lands 17 Spots On MVC T&F Scholar-Athlete Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -Â The UNI track and field program landed 17 student-athletes on the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team for the 2017 track and field season, it was announced today.Â
Student-athletes had to hold a 3.2 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing, and place in the top-eight of an individual event or top three in a relay event at the indoor out outdoor championships to qualify.Â
On the men's side, Brett McCalla, Isaac Holtz and Brad Walski headline the group, earning honors from both the indoor and outdoor season. McCalla has been named to the Scholar-Athlete team for the third straight season while Holtz and Walski are receiving their second. Bo Hjelle and Jordan Pingel also were named to the list, both notching their first Valley academic honor of their careers.Â
For the women, Kassidy Sharp and Kelsey Kirchoff joins McCalla as a three-time honoree with Anna Bentley, Maddie Irmen, Lindsey Kite, Ashley Norem and Sarah Pate all earning their second consecutive selection to the scholar-athlete team. Maddie Bell, Theresa Connelly, Lauren Frederick, Hope Koerperich and Lyndsie Schinkel wrapping up UNI's Scholar-Athletes.Â
