Men's Golf Treks to Missouri For Next Action

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team will head down to Columbia, Missouri, on April 10-11 for its last spring season tournament tune-up before the conference championships.
The Panthers will compete at the Tiger Invitational tournament at The Club at Old Hawthorne. The last time the Panthers competed in Columbia, Missouri was in the spring of the 2012-13 season. The team finished 10th with round totals of 393-377-383, for a total of 909. The tournament is hosted by the University of Missouri and is expected to be a two-day with 36 holes on the opening day and a final 18 on Tuesday.
Junior Sam DeBartolo is coming off back-to-back solid efforts this season at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate tournament and most recently at the Red Wolf Intercollegiate. He led the team and tied for fifth in the Twin Oaks tournament with per round scores of 71-74-71, for a total of 216. He followed that performance up with a tie for 16th at the Red Wolf Intercollegiate. He led the team with scores of 76-75-73 for a total of 224 (+8) in the tournament. The performances allowed him to have the team best average of the year at 74.93.
Senior Dustin Atkinson is averaging 75.61 throughout the 2016-17 season. In Atkinson's best tournament this spring, he finished tied for 16th at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate tournament with scores each day of 75-73-73, for a total of 221 (+8) on March 20-21.
Sophomore Davis Sutton looks to continue to build upon his success from the 2016-17 season while averaging 76.63 per round in seven events. In his best action this spring, he finished tied for 34th and had day totals of 78-73-75, for a total of 226 (+13) at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate.
Senior David Spengler is going to come into the tournament with an average score of 78.83. In Spengler's best action this spring, he tied for 16th in the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate on March 20-21. He came into the second day tied for ninth and had a season-best second-round score of 71. His final round scores were 74-71-76, totaling 221 (+8).
Redshirt sophomore Marshal Lamb also looks to continue to improve throughout this spring. So far, he has an average score of 78.72. In his best contest this spring, he finished tied for 39th at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate with scores of 76-74-77, for a total of 227 (+14).
