UNI Wrestling: Former Panthers Compete at U.S. Open

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Competition begins today for three former Panthers at the 2017 U.S. Open Wrestling Championships.
Two Panther All-Americans, Joe Colon and Joey Lazor, will meet in the first round of the men's freestyle division at 61K. Colon took third for UNI at 133 pounds and Lazor was sixth at 141 pounds at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in 2014.
Blaize Cabell will be competing in the men's freestyle division at 96K.
The men's freestyle competition will be contested over the next two days, running through the semifinals today and concluding with medal rounds and championship finals on Saturday.
The top seven finishers per weight category will earn a spot in the 2017 U.S. Senior Men's Freestyle World Team Trials set for June 9-10 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Competition will start at 11 a.m. CT and can be followed on FloWrestling.
