PSC Multi-Year Pledges Surge Past $500,000

Since the hiring of Nathan Christensen as Assistant Athletic Director for Development/Director of the Panther Scholarship Club in December 2016, he and UNI Director of Athletics David Harris have been looking for ways to grow the fundraising arm of the department.
One initiative that has taken off is a multi-year pledge to the PSC. Christensen pushed the idea of having donors give pledges over a five-year period and set a goal of $500,000. It allows for donors to show their commitment to the PSC and the value of the fundraising piece needed to give UNI its best chance to perform at its highest level.
UNI's donors have bought in and a group of Panther supporters have already surged past the goal and have pledged $530,000 to the multi-year plan.
"The idea of securing multi-year pledges can generate excitement and momentum in the Panther Scholarship Club, but it also goes a long way in securing the long-term future of the PSC," UNI Director of Athletic David Harris said. "We have phenomenal donors and they do a great job of supporting UNI Athletics. We have a great collection of supporters that see the long-term role of scholarship dollars. The PSC is the lifeblood of our organization."
The following donors have combined to commit $530,000 to the PSC over a five-year period. They believe in the PSC and what it does to enhance the efforts of the entire UNI athletic department.
"I look at scholarship dollars and what the PSC does as opportunities for our young people," UNI Head Volleyball Coach Bobbi Petersen said. "There are so many intangibles that our student-athletes have the opportunity to be a part of while getting after it on the court, working hard in the classroom, being involved in the community and being a strong and reliable teammate. These intangibles are the things that will make a difference as they pursue their careers and balance their lives. I truly believe that the benefits for our young people of being able to compete in athletics really cannot begin to be measured. You are investing in young people. You are investing in the future."
"The PSC is the engine that drives each of our athletic programs," UNI Head Football Coach Mark Farley said. "You need scholarship dollars to have successful programs. When you give to the PSC, it's an investment into what UNI will look like in years to come."
The PSC strives to create a rich tradition for the UNI department of athletics by providing the opportunity for all of UNI's student-athletes to succeed in the classroom and in competition.
"We are a Division I school and we can compete at a high level," UNI donor Rosie Lindaman said. "Even though we don't have the same budget that those other schools have, we still compete because we have good coaches and good kids."
