Panthers in Third After First Round of MVC Championship

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team finished in third place after round one of the Missouri Valley Conference women's golf championship on Sunday. The Panthers are playing at the Dalhousie Country Club, a par-72, 6,214-yard layout in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
After 18-holes, the Panthers team of Maddie Bertsch, Allison Rolinger, Paige Van Dyk, Sarah McMichael, and Jenna Snyder finished the day with a total of 310.
Bertsch is currently tied for fourth place after shooting three birdies and 10 pars on the course. She recorded a 74 for the round, which is five behind the leader.
Tied for 10th is senior Allison Rolinger. Rolinger recorded a 76 in the first round and is seven behind the leader. She also put down 12 pars for the round.
Van Dyk marked a 79 and finished tied for 18th. McMichael posted a round one score of 81, which led her to place tied for 28th. Rounding out the Panther team was Snyder who tallied a 92 and landed in 50th.
The Panthers wer originally voted to finish 10th in the competition, but they showcased their talents and finished the first day in third place. UNI looks to win their first ever MVC women's golf championship.
Round two on Monday will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. due to inclement weather.
