Q: You have some new faces on the coaching staff. How has the transition been?
A: "Well the key to all of this is communication and working together. Finding out what buttons to push and how communicate and be effective out here. I am pleased. There has been a lot of detail and a sense of urgency with the coaches as they try to fine tune things."Â
Q: What has the difference been with Eli Dunne this spring as compared to in the fall?
A: "Experience. He is much more calm. When he was a freshman in spring ball, he was all over the place and he was nervous. He just plays. He can make corrections and retain them now because he is learning every play."Â
Q: You have guys you can use at running back, are you looking at a committee of guys that could step into that role?
A: "We had to really look at running back this spring. We have Trevor Allen and then Marcus Weymiller, who played running back in high school. We have also been trying Christian Jegen back there too, and we always have J'Veyon Browning. Weymiller, Allen and Jegen played receiver for us in the last couple of years because we have had depth at running back, so now they are all kind of back to where they were when they played in high school and what they were recruited for. So we will see how that looks and find a starter in the fall."
Q: This team had goals last year that they didn't reach, do you see a little more hunger in the guys this spring?
A: "What I see in this group is the attentiveness in everything they are being told out here. I think a lot of that has to do with the new guys on the staff, and I think that is actually a good thing. They are more alert and more aware of what is being said and the coaches are more detailed oriented because this is their first time teaching them. The combination of the two is making things more effective out here on the practice field."
