Men's Golf Heads to Missouri for Twin Oaks

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team looks to continue its spring campaign in Springfield, Missouri, at 8 a.m. on Mon., March 20.

The Panthers will compete at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate tournament at the Twin Oaks Country Club. Last year, the Panthers finished sixth as a team with round totals of 302-300-298, with a total of 900 ( 48). The tournament is expected to be a two-day tournament on March 20-21.

UNI's senior Dustin Atkinson notched a top-10 finish in the tournament last season with a sixth-place showing in the 54-hole event. Atkinson shot a final round 73 for a total of 218 for the tournament. In Atkinson's first tournament this spring, he finished tied for 97th with scores each day of 76-77-81, for a total of 234 ( 21) at the Bob Sitton Invitational.

Sophomore Davis Sutton looks to continue to build upon his success from the fall and spring while averaging 77.23 a round in five events. In his first action this spring, he finished tied for 97th and had day totals of 79-80-75, for a total of 234 ( 21) at the Bob Sitton Invitational.

Also, junior Sam DeBartolo finished well for the men last season at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate tournament as he shot rounds of 69, 78 and 73, respectively. This consistent showing earned him a tie for seventh overall in the field last year. DeBartolo, who tied for 103rd in this year's first spring contest, finished the Bob Sitton Invitational with day totals of 81-74-80, with a total of 235 ( 22).

Senior David Spengler tied for 44th last year at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate tournament after securing scores of 77-74-82 for a three-round total of 233. In Spengler's first action this spring, he finished tied for 106th at the Bob Sitton Invitational with day totals of 75-79-82, with a total of 236 ( 23).

Redshirt sophomore Marshal Lamb also looks to continue to improve throughout this spring. In the first contest, he finished the Bob Sitton Tournament with day totals of 75-79-82, with a total of 236 ( 23).
