CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI wrestling will be looking to defend its perfect MAC record and regain the regular-season title it earned in 2014 with two conference matchups this weekend.

UNI (9-3 / 6-0) hosts Buffalo at home 7 p.m. Friday before facing No. 7 Missouri on the road for the final regular-season duals of the season.

In 2014, the Panthers went undefeated with a 13-0 season. It was the last time UNI knocked off Missouri (then ranked seventh in the nation).

Six seniors will be honored in addition to Ken Klingman.
Â
Klingman has served as the team's life coach for more than a decade supporting Panther wrestlers with academic and relationship issues. A native of Elgin, Iowa, he now lives in Cedar Falls with his wife, Linda. The couple have two sons, Kyle and Kevin.
Klingman graduated from UNI with a bachelor's degree in science and a master's in counseling. Upon graduation, he teamed up with The Navigators, a Christian organization. He worked in a variety of places, including Venezuela and Midwest campuses for 11 years. He was a mental health counselor at Medical Associates for about two decades before becoming an associate pastor at Trinity Bible Church. Now in retirement, he continues to work with The Navigators but has kept his main focus on the UNI wrestling team.

Seniors:
- Jared Bartel – sixth at the 2014 MAC Championships. He wrestled in nine of UNI's 14 duals last year, facing six top-15 opponents. Major: manufacturing technology: metal casting and business minor.
- JJ Everard – 2015 NCAA qualifier and has placed in six of his eight tournaments as a Panther. He has beaten two ranked opponents already this year. Major: physical education
- Mark Jolcover – competed for three seasons as a Panther. He broke his neck wrestling in high school and was never expected to compete again. He has since given back to the program helping with coaching, video work and so much more. Major: sociology.
- Cooper Moore – just the second Panther to earn consecutive MAC titles with back-to-back wins at 165 pounds. He is a three-time NCAA qualifier. Major: political science.
- Dylan Peters – two-time All-American at 125 pounds and an NWCA Academic All-American. He is a three-time NCAA qualifier and is third in the nation for most career falls. He is tied for fifth among all Panther for career falls. Major: exercise science major with an emphasis on sports psychology.
- Tyler Willers – knocked off No. 4 Randy Cruz of Lehigh with a major decision earlier this year at the Southern Scuffle. He has placed in 14 tournaments as a Panther. Major: teach and coach at the high school level.
MATCHUPS (NCAA rankings from Jan. 20 – new set expected Feb. 10)
125 pounds:
- UNI – No. 13 Dylan Peters is a two-time All-American. His last match was Jan. 8, where he beat Northern Illinois' Brock Hudkins. His 37 career falls makes him third in the nation for most career falls. He is tied for fifth among all Panthers for most career falls. More than half (25) of his pins came in the first period.
Jay Schwarm has competed at 125 pounds in the last five duals, but also wrestled at 133 pounds this season. He notched a 46-second fall at the Southern Scuffle to start the year and beat 2016 NCAA qualifier Kyle Larson of Iowa State in a dual.  - Buffalo – Justin Patrick redshirted last year but posted an impressive 28-6 overall record and took first place in the B bracket at the New York State Championships.
Derek Spann set the record for most pins in a season and career as a prep in New York. - Missouri – Aaron Assad has split the majority of the duals at 125 with Barlow McGhee. Assad has stepped in the spot in the last two duals with Northern Illinois and Oklahoma State. The Purdue transfer took third at the UNI Open.
No. 18 Barlow McGhee wrestled seven consecutive duals for Mizzou before sitting out the last two. He earned his first trip to the NCAA championships after beating Peters, 9-5 for the MAC title.

133 pounds:
- UNI – No. 10 Josh Alber is on an eight-match win streak. He's a 2016 NCAA qualifier and the MAC leader in rankings. He has avenged losses from last year to Earl Hall of Iowa State, Corey Keener of Central Michigan and Cameron Kelly of Ohio. He has three top-20 wins this year. Â
- Buffalo – No. 18 Bryan Lantry is a 2016 NCAA qualifier with an 18-16 overall record, including an 11-10 mark in dual meets and went 1-7 in conference action while posting 25 takedowns and three falls on the season.
Blake Retell had an 8-4 record in open tournaments and recorded two falls in 2015-16. - Missouri – No. 13 John Erneste took fifth at the Southern Scuffle and third at the UNI Open.

141 pounds:
- UNI – Jake Hodges and Tyler Willers both knocked off top-10 opponents in the first round of the Southern Scuffle. Willers beat No. 4 Randy Cruz of Lehigh, and Willers took down No. 7 Matt Manley of Missouri.
- Buffalo – Jason Estevez won MAC athlete of the week Jan. 8. He started the 2015-16 season 1-2 with a fall before an injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season. He also had three takedowns and a two-point and four-point near fall in his three matches.
- Missouri – No. 10 Jaydin Eierman won the UNI Open at 133 pounds before moving up to take fifth at the Southern Scuffle this year.             Â
149 pounds:
- UNI – No. 8 Max Thomsen's only four losses are to top-15 opponents. He has beaten four wrestlers ranked in the top 20. He finished third at the Southern Scuffle. Thomsen has won his last four matches, all with bonus points. He received a forfeit against Eastern Michigan. He leads the team in dual points this season.
- Buffalo – No. 29 Colt Cotten is a 2016 NCAA qualifier where he wrestled at 149 pounds and posted a 14-10 overall record and was 11-9 in dual matches while 2-6 in conference action.    Â
- Missouri – Three-time NCAA qualifier and two-time All-American No. 4 Lavion Mayes was third at the 2016 NCAA championships and seventh in 2015. He was second at the Southern Scuffle this year.

157 pounds:
- UNI – Paden Moore has wrestled duals at two weights this year. He won the Grand View Open.
- Buffalo – Alex Smythe posted a 6-8 overall record in 2015-16 and 0-3 mark in dual action while he was 0-2 in MAC duals. Â
- Missouri – No. 6 Joey Lavallee is a two-time NCAA qualifier coming off a redshirt year. The junior qualified for the national tourney as a true freshman in 2014 and as a sophomore in 2015.             Â
165 pounds:
- UNI – Isaiah Patton grabbed three wins at the Southern Scuffle this year.
No. 10 Bryce Steiert's eight-match streak ended last weekend. He hadn't lost a match since Jan. 2 at the Southern Scuffle where he knocked off a top-10 opponent en route to a third-place finish. He has earned bonus points in his last six wins. He has three wins over two top-20 opponents so far this year. He has two wins over Nick Wanzek, who was ranked ninth in the 174-pound weight class at the time. His only three losses have been to top-20 wrestlers.  - Buffalo – Tyler Rill won a match against No. 15 Seldon Wright (ODU) in 2016-17. Had an 11-11 overall record in 2015-16 and 6-8 dual record on the season while he went 0-5 in MAC duals. Â
- Missouri – No. 6 Daniel Lewis earned the MAC Freshman of the Year Award after winning the conference title and went on to take fourth at the national tournament.

174 pounds:
- UNI – No. 10 Taylor Lujan has two wins over top-20 opponents and was seventh at the Southern Scuffle. His only losses are to wrestlers ranked in the nation's top 20. He is on a four-match win streak. He's won by major decision in three of his last four wins.
- Buffalo – Muhamed McBryde went 8-10 overall in 2015-16 and 7-8 in dual meet action while he went 2-5 in MAC duals.
- Missouri – Dylan Wisman knocked off No. 6 Kyle Crutchmer of Oklahoma State Jan. 27.        Â
184 pounds:
- UNI – No. 14 Drew Foster has lost just one dual this year. He finished sixth at the Southern Scuffle. He has knocked off No. 13 Jack Dechow of Old Dominion and then-MAC leader No. 14 Jordan Ellingwood of Central Michigan. Foster moved up from 174 pounds mid-January last year. He also has wrestled at 197 pounds this year.
- Buffalo – No. 29 Brett Perry went 11-3 in open tournament action in 2015-16.                Â
- Missouri – Matt Lemanowicz snapped a seven-match losing streak with a 10-4 decision over Northern Illinois' Bryce Gorman.                Â
197 pounds:
- UNI – Jacob Holschlag became the fifth Panther to wrestle duals at two different weights this season when he stepped up to 197 pounds mid-January. Holschlag started the year at 184 pounds after competing at 174 pounds in his freshman year. He's 2-1 in duals at 184 pounds and 3-2 at 197 pounds this year.
Chase Shedenhelm entered the dual lineup for the first time against Northern Illinois. He moved up a weight to take on No. 13 Shawn Scott. Last year, he wrestled at 174 pounds, and he started this year at 184 pounds. - Buffalo – No. 22 James Benjamin posted an overall record of 17-15 in 2015-16 and an 11-8 mark in duals while he went 3-5 in MAC duals and went 2-3 in MAC Championships."
Nate Rose went 9-8 in tournament action last year and competed for Trinidad and Tabago at the Pan American Wrestling Championships. - Missouri – No. 1 J'den Cox is a 2016 Olympic bronze medalist returning to the Mizzou lineup with three All-American titles, including two national titles. He is a three-time MAC champion.      Â
285 pounds:
- UNI – JJ Everard transferred from SDSU after qualifying for the NCAA tournament in 2015. He earned bonus points in eight matches last year. He has wins over No. 17 Gage Hutchison of Eastern Michigan and No. 29 Quean Smith of Iowa State.
- Buffalo – No. 28 Jake Gunning knocked off No. 17 Gage Hutchison of Eastern Michigan. In 2015-16, he posted a team-best 12 duals wins and five MAC dual victories on the season while he went 18-12 overall and recorded 41 takedowns.
- Missouri – Austin Myers took third at the UNI Open and helped Mizzou to win over Central Michigan with a 6-2 decision over Newton Smerchek.  Â
