Stroobant Named Women's Tennis Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS--Jieke Stroobant of the University of Northern Iowa has been named the women's tennis player of the week as announced by the Missouri Valley Conference today.
In three matches this weekend, Jieke Stroobant of UNI went 2-1 in singles matches and 2-1 in doubles matches. Against South Dakota State, In the No. 1 singles, Stroobant would have the longest match of the day, going all three set against Iasmin Rosa, 5-7, 7-5, 17-15 (1-0). Stroobant and Sydney Wolfe competed in the No. 2 doubles, defeating Maria Velazco and Emily Van Dijk 6-1. On Saturday, Hannah Sulz of Montana would defeat Stroobant in the No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1. Stroobant and Wolfe would be defeated by Lidia Dukic and Milica Panic, 6-2. In Saturday evening's match, Stroobant won in the No. 1 singles spot, defeating North Dakota's Sophie Allen-Fisher 6-2, 7-6, (7-2). Wolfe and Stroobant would post a 6-2 victory over Allen-Fi sher and Nakasato in No. 2 doubles.
Stroobant and the Panthers return to action on Sat. Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. hosting in-state rivals Iowa State.
