Shockers Score 73-44 Win Over Panthers

WICHITA, Kan., - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team came out on the short end of a 73-44 decision to the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday at Koch Arena.
UNI (14-13 overall, 9-7 MVC) shot 27.5 percent from the floor, which included a 4-of-19 mark from three-point land, against the Shockers. Wichita State (25-4, 15-1 MVC) outrebounded the Panthers, 48-23.
The Shockers bounced out to a 14-4 advantage less than four minutes into the contest. The Shockers led by 12 at the break, 38-26.
UNI started the second half on a 6-0 run to cut the WSU lead to 38-32 with 16:43 left in the game. But the Panthers would score only 12 more points in the half and the Shockers extended the lead to 31 before it was over. The Shockers were led in scoring by Landry Shamet with 14 points and Darral Willis Jr. with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
UNI's Spencer Haldeman provided a spark off the bench with a team-high 13 points. Haldeman drained three triples in the loss.
The Panthers will be back in action Wednesday at Indiana State with a tip set for 6 p.m. (CT).
