Records Fall at Day 1 on MVC Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa--The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team opened up competition at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships this evening in Iowa City.

The Panther squad of Katie Taylor, Autumn Roepsch, Crystal Florman and Molly Lembezeder took second in the 200 medley relay, timing in at 1:41.11. The time is good for a new school record.

Records fell in the 800 freestyle relay in both the A and B relays. In the B relay, Crystal Florman broke the 200 freestyle record, timing in at 1:51.12. Florman's record would only stand for a few minutes, until Taylor broke it in the A relay. Taylor timed in at 1:50.44. Taylor would also team up with Lembezeder, Phyfe and Rachel Siebenaller taking third with a time of 7:22.20.

Action resumes at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning.
