Panthers Set For Iowa Open

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa track and field program will head to Iowa City, Iowa, for the Iowa Open on Saturday, Feb. 18. It is the last regular season meet before the Panthers host the MVC Indoor Championships, Feb. 25-26.
The men's and women's weight throw will take place on Friday afternoon with the bulk of the meet starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Running events will get underway at 3 p.m. with the 4X400 meter relay set to conclude the meet at 6:25 p.m.
UNI will take a full squad to Iowa City to get in one last competition before the conference meet. The Panthers currently have 16 men ranked in the top-eight in the MVC in 10 different events along with 11 women in 10 events.
Brandon Carnes currently ranks second in the country in the 60 meter dash and 29th in the 200 meters while Jon Rus is sitting in the top-40 in the hurdles. On the women's side, Lindsey Kite and Lyndsie Schinkel are both ranked in the top-80 in the 800 meters nationally with Sarah Pate ranking 57th in the weight throw.
