HERO Sports Names Four Panthers All-Americans

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The All-America honors continued to roll in for the Northern Iowa football team, as Elijah Campbell, Sam Drysdale, Jared Farley and Xavior Williams each claimed All-American honors from HERO Sports, the publication announced on Wednesday.
Farley earned second team laurels, while Campbell was selected to the third team. Campbell and Farley have also earned AP, College Sports Madness, Phil Steele and STATS All-American honors this season. Drysdale was named to the All-Sophomore squad, earning honorable mention, while Williams was named to the freshman first team.
Overall, the Panthers have earned 14 All-American honors this season, which is most since 2015 matched that total as well.
Campbell earned 51 tackles, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and 12 pass breakups in 2017. The 12 pass breakups are tied for ninth-most in a season at UNI. Earlier this season, the senior earned All-MVFC First Team honors. For his career at UNI, Campbell earned 93 tackles, while picking off eight passes and taking two for touchdowns.
Farley earned a team-high 122 tackles this past season, while scooping up two fumbles with one going the distance for a touchdown. Farley became the first Div. I linebacker since 1996 to score a touchdown on defense, receiving and rushing in one season.
Farley collected All-MVFC First Team honors earlier this season, while also earning MVFC All-Academic Team Honorable Mention. For his storied career, Farley earned 313 total tackles, which ranks eighth-most all-time at UNI.
For Drysdale, the All-American honor is the first for the kicker as a Panther. The sophomore made 17 field goals this past season, which is tied for 10th-most in a season at UNI. Drysdale also earned MVFC All-Academic Team Honorable Mention earlier this season.
Freshman cornerback Williams had a sensational first season at UNI, after coming on strong to cap close out the year. The Panther started eight games in 2017, making 30 tackles and picking off four passes. The four interceptions were all in consecutive weeks for Williams.
