CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Panthers Elijah Campbell, Jared Farley and Adam Reth were named to the College Sports Madness FCS All-American teams on Thursday, adding to the senior trio's lengthy resume at Northern Iowa.
Campbell and Farley earned second team honors, while Reth was selected to the third team. The three honorees in one season is the most for UNI since 2015's four All-Americans in Deiondre' Hall (first team), Brett McMakin (second team), Makinton Dorleant (third team) and Tim Kilfoy (third team). Last season, former Panther Karter Schult won the College Sports Madness Defensive Player of the Year award.
For Campbell and Farley, Thursday's news comes on the heels of an All-American distinction from the Associated Press on Tuesday. Campbell collected third team honors, while Farley earned second team laurels. For Reth, the All-American honor is his first as a Panther.
Campbell earned 51 tackles, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and 12 pass breakups in 2017. The 12 pass breakups are tied for ninth-most in a season at UNI. Earlier this season, the senior earned All-MVFC First Team honors. For his career at UNI, Campbell earned 93 tackles, while picking off eight passes and taking two for touchdowns.
Farley earned a team-high 122 tackles this past season, while scooping up two fumbles with one going the distance for a touchdown. Farley became the first Div. I linebacker since 1996 to score a touchdown on defense, receiving and rushing in one season.
Farley collected All-MVFC First Team honors earlier this season, while also earning MVFC All-Academic Team Honorable Mention. For his storied career, Farley earned 313 total tackles, which ranks eighth-most all-time at UNI.
Reth earned 79 tackles this past season, with 10.0 tackles for loss, three sacks and two blocked field goals. The pair of blocked field goals for Reth against North Dakota State on Oct. 28 went down as a school-record at UNI.
