CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - On the night when the University of Northern Iowa honored legendary long-time volleyball head coach Iradge Ahrabi-Fard, the Panthers posted a 3-0 win over Evansville in the McLeod Center.

Prior to the match, UNI President Mark Nook and Director of Athletics David Harris were joined on the floor by Ahrabi-Fard and a banner featuring the former Panther coach, who won 503 matches for the Panthers, was raised to rafters in the McLeod Center.

UNI (22-6 overall, 12-2 MVC) then proceeded to defeat Evansville (10-15 overall, 4-9 MVC) for the 49^th time in 50 tries in the series. UNI won by set scores of 25-11, 25-23, 25-14.

On the night, UNI Panthers had 53 digs overall and 45 kills. Bri Weber led the squad with 12 kills, following was Piper Thomas with 11 kills on the night who had a hitting percentage of .435 on the night. Thomas is at 995 career kills and looks to surpass 1,000 kills tomorrow night when the Panthers take on Indiana State.

Kendyl Sorge and Bri Weber both had 10 digs and Moriah Johnson had five kills which tied her career high, she also had a hitting percentage of .500. Heather Hook led the team with 31 assists against the Purple Aces.

UNI will be back in action tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in the McLeod Center. UNI will take on Indiana State which will be the last regular home match for the Panthers.

NOTES: UNI will honor senior Heather Hook on Saturday night before the start of the first match at 7 p.m. … Hook ranks tied for No. 6 in school history with 3,977 assists … Hook needs only 23 more to become the sixth UNI Panther to reach 4,000 career assists … UNI head coach Bobbi Petersen moved to 35-1 all-time vs. Evansville.
