Panthers Start Strong at Kansas Classic

LAWRENCE, Kansas—The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team earned four Top-3 finishes at the Kansas Classic today.
Molly Lembezeder tied for first-place in the 50 freestyle, timing in at 23.15. Crystal Florman would take fourth in the same event, swimming a 23.25.
Sophomore Katie Taylor timed in at 2:01.33 in the 200 IM for first-place.
Taylor, Lembezeder, and Florman would team up with Moriah Ross for Top-3 finishes in the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays. The Panthers would swim a 3:42.96 in the 400 medley relay, good for second-place. In the 200 freestyle, the Panthers would take third-place honors, swimming a combined 1:33.71.
Ross would win the B flight of the 200 IM, timing in at 2:06.15.
Alyssa Deuso would lead the Panthers in the 1-meter diving well. Deuso scored a 223.55, earning fourth-place honors. Freshmen Izzy Bunchek and Jayden Lovell
would follow, scoring 222.75 and 208.55, respectively.
Going the distance for the Panthers in the 500 freestyle would be Kylie Engstrom and Jordan McCullough. Engstrom had a Top-15 finish, timing in at 5:01.34. McCullough finished in the Top-20, swimming a 5:07.27.
The Panthers continue action at the Kansas Classic tomorrow, with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m.
