UNI Honors November Student-Athletes of Month

This months' honorees are McKayla Cole (Charles City, Iowa), Molly Lembezeder (Peosta, Iowa), Daurice Fountain (Madison, Wisconsin) and Marcus Weymiller (Waukon, Iowa)
McKayla Cole - Cross Country
Cole claimed MVC Freshman of the Year honors at the conference meet on Oct. 28. Cole placed 10th overall with a time of 17:51.5 and became UNI's second straight MVC Freshman of the Year.Â
McKayla is a movement and exercise science major with a Coaching minor. She graduated high school a semester early and enrolled full-time at UNI in January.
Molly Lembezeder - Swimming & Diving
Lembezeder captured MVC Swimmer of the Week honors (Oct. 17) after having won three individual events, three relay events and took second place in one individual event against Nebraska and Sioux Falls. Against Nebraska, Lembezeder took first place in both the 50 and 100 freestyles, timing in at 24.11 and 52.65 respectively. The Panther team of Taylor, Ross, Florman, and Lembezeder swam a time of 1:45.28 in the 200 medley relay. In the pool on Saturday against Sioux Falls, Lembezeder swam into first place in the 50 freestyle, timing in at 24.41. Lembezeder received second place in the 100 butterfly, timing in at 1:00.43. In the 200 medley, Lembezeder was the anchor leg and helped the Panthers finish with a time of 1:46.76. In the 200 freestyle relay, the team swam a 1:37.81, four seconds ahead of Sioux Falls.
Molly is an elementary education major and has consistently earned all-conference recognition for her academic achievements. She has also consistently been on the Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Daurice Fountain - Football
Fountain caught 21 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns in the month of October. Fountain caught nine passes for 103 yards against Western Illinois. Fountain added four catches for 74 yards, including a 18-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter of UNI's 38-18 win at No. 7 South Dakota State. Fountain nabbed three catches for 99 yards in helping the Panthers to a 19-14 win over No. 9 Youngstown State in the UNI-Dome. Fountain posted five receptions for 43 yards that included touchdown passes from Eli Dunne for 8 yards and 32 yards against No. 2-ranked North Dakota State.
Daurice is a communication major and is on track to graduate this December. Daurice has done a great job and worked hard to complete his degree in three-and-a-half years.
Marcus Weymiller - Football
Weymiller scored a team-best four touchdowns and led the Panthers in rushing with 371 yards in the month of October. Weymiller had not played since Sept. 9 when he suffered an injury against Cal Poly - but that did not slow him down in his return to the field when he rushed 42 times for 170 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-18 win at No. 7 South Dakota State. Weymiller followed up that effort with 29 carries, 132 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 19-14 victory over No. 9 Youngstown State.
Marcus is a double major in political science and public administration: human resources with a minor in politics and law. He is working with Dr. Chris Larimer (Political Science) to co-author an entry for the Oxford Encyclopedia on Political Decision Making.Â
