WATERLOO, Iowa — In the final game of the regular season, junior Brynell Yount led the Panthers to a 2-0 victory over Indiana State to secure a fourth seed in the MVC quarterfinals set for Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, Yount scored off an assist from Jenny Wick in the 62^nd minute. Two minutes later, Yount would score again, breaking away on the right flank and beating an Indiana State Sycamore defender.

The teams not only battled themselves but the weather as well. The high winds in the first half held the teams to two shots a piece and a scoreless half. Returning to the field in the second half, the temperature dropped but the Panthers were able to connect offensively.

Goalkeeper Jami Reichenberger noted her ninth shutout this season.

The Panthers advance to the MVC tournament as the No. 4 seed and will host Illinois State 1 p.m. Oct. 29 for a first-round match.

Perfect at Home against MVC Opponents

The Panthers have a 3-0 record at home against MVC opponents this season and look to defend that mark when Illinois State comes for first-round playoff action on Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.

Scouting Illinois State

Illinois State finishes the 2017 regular season with a record of 9-8-2, 3-4 MVC. The Panthers and Redbirds met on Sept. 23, with the Panthers winning in overtime 1-0. Yount was the sole scorer for the Panthers. The winner of Sunday's match will advance and play No. 1 Drake Friday, November 3 at tournament site Missouri State.
