Schult Lands On FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team

ADA ACADEMIC ALL-STAR TEAM
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Football standout Karter Schult excelled in the classroom as well this past season, earning a spot on the 19th annual FCS Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star team.
Schult was one of 126 total nominees for the team that was narrowed down to 44 winners with the Missouri Valley Football Conference leading all leagues with 11 student-athletes named to the All-Star Team. Schult is the 16th Panther to earn a spot on the team.
The Tripoli, Iowa, native is also one of nine finalists selected from the All-Star team for the 16th Annual FCS ADA $5,000 Postgraduate Scholarships. Two student-athletes will receive postgraduate scholarships during the Association's annual membership meeting held in conjunction with the 2017 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Convention, being held at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla. June 12-15.
"The FCS ADA is honored to recognize these football student-athletes selected to the 19th Annual Academic All-Star Team," FCS ADA President Mark Wilson said. "We are proud that these young men continue to accomplish high achievement in the classroom, on the field, in the community and we are excited to recognize them for their efforts."
Football players from all FCS institutions are eligible for the award. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. He must have reached his second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year.
Schult started all 11 games this year and excelled on the field by leading all Division I football in sacks (17.0). He set a new UNI record for tackles for loss in a season with 24.0 and also tied a school record for tackles for loss in a game with 5.5. Off the field, Schult was a CoSIDA Academic All-American, earned a spot on the MVFC Scholar-Athlete first-team and was a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy award. He graduated in December with his degree in movement and exercise science.
