Volleyball Banquet Will Be Feb. 11 at Fox Ridge

The University of Northern Iowa's annual volleyball team banquet will take place Sat., Feb. 11, 2017, at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Dike.
The event will get underway at noon and the cost to attend is $20.

2016 UNI Volleyball Notes:
• The University of Northern Iowa women's volleyball team (24-10 overall, 14-4 Missouri Valley Conference) earned an at-large bid into the 2016 NCAA Tournament.Â
• It was UNI's 20th overall NCAA appearance and it is the fourth time UNI gained an at-large bid ('08, '12, '15, '16).
• UNI made its 20th NCAA Tournament appearance - tied for the 16th-most appearances in this year's field. San Diego and Wisconsin also made their 20th NCAA Tournaments.
• The Panthers earned the program's 34th 20-win season.
• UNI led the nation in digs per set (18.52).
• Junior setter Heather Hook ranked No. 11 in the nation in total assists (1,341).
• The UNI volleyball squad had five representatives named to the 2016 All-Missouri Valley Conference teams. UNI's five first or second team honors is the most for the program since the Panthers landed five on the all-league list in 2010.Â
• Kayla Haneline (Plattsmouth, Neb.), Amie Held (Festus, Mo.) and Bri Weber (Dike, Iowa) were the three Panthers to earn first-team all-MVC honors. Heather Hook (Grundy Center) and Kendyl Sorge (Janesville, Iowa) were named to the all-MVC second team.
• Haneline was named to the AVCA All-Region first-team for the first time in her career. She was a two-time AVCA All-Region honorable mention pick in 2014 and 2015.
• Held was selected to the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference's All-Tournament squad.
• Held became the 2nd Panther and 8th MVC player to post 2,000 or more digs in her career. Held finished her Panther career with 2,002 digs.
• Sophomore libero Kendyl Sorge became the 16th Panther to earn 1,000 or more digs in her career. Sorge has tallied 1,106 digs through 68 career matches.
