Purple Aces Deal Panthers Road Loss, 70-58

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Purple Aces dealt the University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team its fourth straight loss with a 70-58 decision in the Ford Center.
UNI senior Jeremy Morgan eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in his career when he scored his first basket of the game with 11:56 left in the first half. Morgan led the Panthers with 16 points, six assists, four blocks and three steals. Morgan is the 41st UNI Panther to reach 1,000 career points.
Evansville (10-5 overall, 2-0 MVC) had four players in double figures led by Christian Benzon and Jaylon Brown, who each tallied 17 points. Ryan Taylor scored 14 and Jaiveon Eaves added 13 points off the bench. UNI (5-8 overall, 0-2 MVC) missed its first 13 3-point attempts in the game.
The Purple Aces did not trail in the game and led by 14 points at the break. The Panthers trailed by as many as 21 points in the second half and trimmed the margin to 12 in the closing minute on back-to-back three-pointers from freshman Juwan McCloud.
UNI will be in action again Wednesday at Loyola Tip is set for 6 p.m. at Gentile Arena in Chicago.
NOTES: UNI used its seventh different starting lineup this season as Jordan Ashton returned to the starting lineup for his fourth start and Juwan McCloud came off the bench for the first time in his career … Jeremy Morgan is the only Panther to have started all 13 games ... UNI has made at least one 3-pointer in 544 straight games.
