WBB: Q&A With Kennedy Kirkpatrick
10/7/2016 10:01:00 AM | Women's Basketball
Meet graduate transfer, Kennedy Kirkpatrick. The Lawrence, Kan. native comes to UNI from Bowling Green State University where she played in 62 career games, receiving her degree in biology.
Q: What made you choose UNI?
A: I chose UNI because of the tremendous success they have had as a program led by Coach Warren and her staff. I really enjoyed the team on my visit and I am so excited to continue to get to know them as the year goes on. I also wanted to be closer to home and the graduate program here for my MBA is one of the best in the country.
Q: When did you decide you wanted to play college basketball and why?
A: I knew I wanted to play college basketball when I was pretty young. I had dreams of playing for Pat Summit at Tennessee, and basketball has been a passion of mine for a while now. I love playing the game and being around people who enjoy it as much as I do.
Q: What is your favorite part about the sport of basketball?
A: Basketball is my get away. It's the one thing I have always been able to go to where I can just stop thinking about everything and have fun doing something I love at one of the highest levels there is.
Q: What are your goals as a Panther women's basketball player?
A: We have talked about preseason goals and non-conference goals and I think we will continue to set goals as the season progresses. As of right now, I think as a team we want to remain as competitive as we have in previous years. Although we are young, we have a lot of talent and I am excited to see what we can do.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: My favorite movie is She's the Man.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Italian food.
Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
A: My favorite professional athlete is Kobe Bryant, even though he retired. I have always looked up to his work ethic and competitive drive. I love watching basketball and he was one of my favorite players to watch.
Q: Who has had the biggest impact in your athletic career and why?
A: My parents have had the biggest impact on my athletic career. They always pushed me to be the best that I could be and without them, I would not be where I am today. On and off the court I grew up with two amazing role models.
