CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad ran its win streak to three in a row with a 3-0 triumph over the North Dakota State Bison on Sunday in the finale of the 2016 UNI Tournament held in the McLeod Center.

The Panthers (9-5 overall) used a double-double from sophomore Bri Weber and a season-high 11 kills from senior Lindsey Schulz in recording the victory. Weber totaled 10 kills and 15 digs on Sunday. The Bison fell to 2-11 on the season.

UNI used a decisive 17-1 run in the opening set to post a 25-9 win. The score was tied 3-3 when the Panthers went on the run, which also included a stretch of 12 consecutive points by UNI. The Panthers hit .400 in the opening set, which included 14 kills and two attack errors.

The Panthers kept the pressure on the Bison by starting the second set on a 4-0 run. NDSU eventually knotted the set at 9-9. The Bison tied the set again at 15-15 only to see the Panthers go on a 6-1 run that was finished off with a solo block from senior Heather Hook. UNI would go on to win the second stanza, 25-20. UNI's Piper Thomas collected a set-high five kills (.364 hitting percentage) to lead the home squad.

UNI opened up a 5-1 advantage in the third set and did not trail in the closing set. NDSU trimmed the lead to 8-6 but could get no closer. UNI's Schulz capped her season-high effort by notching six kills (.600 hitting percentage) in the third set.

The Panthers will travel to Southern Illinois (Friday) and Evansville (Saturday) this week.
