The Basics: The University of Northern Iowa football program will hit the road this week as they take on top-10 ranked Eastern Washington in Cheney, Wash. The game is set to kick off at 6 p.m. CT.
About the Eagles: The Eastern Washington Eagles will enter the game 1-1 overall after taking North Dakota State to overtime on Sept. 10, eventually falling 50-44. The Eagles opened their season similar to UNI with an FBS win, beating Washington State 45-42. EWU returned 14 starters this season, including All-American Cooper Kupp, the 2015 Walter Payton Award winner. The Eagles are ranked No. 1 in the country in passing offense and No. 3 in total offense, averaging 581 yards per game.

Aaron Bailey and Darrian Miller both rushed for over 100 yards with current Chicago Bear, Deiondre' Hall, coming up with a huge interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
UNI against the Big Sky: UNI has had success against the current members of the Big Sky Conference, racking up an all-time record of 52-24-1. UNI holds a winning record over 10 of the 13 schools. UNI is 6-0 all-time against Eastern Washington.
Breaking the Line: Karter Schult tied the school record for tackles for loss in a game against No. 14 Montana (9/10), recording 5.5 to match John Hermann who had 5.5 against Northern Arizona in 2005. He finished the game with a career-high tying 10 tackles along with two sacks
Best in the FCS: Karter Schult has racked up 8.5 tackles for loss in the first two games, ranking him No. 1 in the country in tackles for loss. He has also brought down an average of 2.0 sacks per game, putting him at No. 2 in the FCS in total sacks. He also ranks No. 3 among FCS active career leaders in career sacks, sitting with 22.5.
Rushing Game: For the second consecutive week, the Panthers have had a 100-yard rushing performance. Against Iowa State, Aaron Bailey turned in 114 yards while against No. 14 Montana (9/10), Tyvis Smith posted 130 yards, averaging 6.5 yards per carry. UNI is averaging 194.5 yards per game, ranking them No. 33 in the FCS.
Sack Attack: With the combination of Karter Schult and redshirt freshman Hezekiah Applegate, the Panthers have made it a habit of getting to the quarterback. The Panthers are averaging 2.5 sacks per game, ranking in the top-30 in the FCS while also averaging 8.0 tackles for loss per game, putting them at No. 17 in the country and No. 2 in the league.
Safety Squad: A.J. Allen earned his first career start at the safety position after playing linebacker in 2015. The Waukee, Iowa native racked up a career-high seven tackles against Montana (9/10).
100 Yard Games: Tyvis Smith posted his fifth-career 100-yard rushing performance against Montana (9/10), recording 130 yards on the ground, averaging 6.5 yards per carry. He is averaging 99.0 yards per game, ranking him No. 24 in the FCS.
