Panthers Golf Opens Season At UNO Invitational

The University of Northern Iowa men's and women's golf programs will tee off their fall season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Invitational at ArborLinks in Nebraska City, Neb. this weekend Sept. 3-4. The invitational will have a men's and women's tournament for the first time in four years.
The Panthers return Allison Rolinger, who will be a senior this year. Rolinger was UNI's top finisher at the 2016 MVC Championship in which she tied for 22nd. She was also named the MVC Co-Women's Golfer of the Week after winning the Coyote Classic last year. Rolinger was UNI's top finisher in four out of five spring events and ranked second on the team in stroke average (79.56).
Also teeing off for UNI this season is junior Paige Van Dyk. She led the Panthers in stroke average (78.74) last season and tied for team-best with 15 sub-80 rounds. Van Dyk had her first collegiate victory at Whistling Straits after shooting a career low round of 71 which led her to being named the MVC Co-Women's Golfer of the Week.
Leading off for the men's team is senior Dustin Atkinson. The All-MVC honoree, had the team-best stroke average for the 2015-16 season. He shot his season-low round of 67 on two occasions. Atkinson landed six top-10 finishes, including tying for fourth at the Zach Johnson Invitational with scores of 72-75-70.
The event will tee off at 8 a.m. on both days with a shotgun start. Both layouts for men's and women's will be par-72.
