2016 Preseason All-MVC Release (PDF)
Senior middle hitter Kayla Haneline (Plattsmouth, Neb.) has been named to the preseason all-Missouri Valley Conference squad for the second straight year. Haneline led the Panthers in kills (3.16/set) and blocks (1.02/set) last season.Â
Fresh off an MVC regular season and tournament championship, Wichita State has been tabbed as the league favorite in the annual coaches' preseason poll, receiving 97 points and seven first-place votes. The Shockers outdistanced second-place pick Missouri State (85 points, one first-place vote), third-place Southern Illinois (82 points, one first-place vote) and fourth-place UNI (72 points, one first-place vote).
The Valley will look to continue to build off the success of another successful season in 2015 that saw five league teams win 20+ matches and four teams make the NCAA Tournament.
The Valley finished with a league RPI of eighth nationally, including five teams in the top-80 – Wichita State (No. 30), Missouri State (No. 35), Southern Illinois (No. 41), UNI (No. 54) and Illinois State (No. 73).
The foundation is in place as league teams return 42 starters and seven liberos (70-percent of starters), two AVCA All-Americans, nine first team all-conference selections and another eight players who earned second-team accolades.
