Time, a simple word that means so much. Often times as college students, we never have enough of it or never make the most of it. Frequently, we fail to realize the impact even short periods of time can have on our lives. For some however, the ability to recognize these moments shapes our future.
In his second, and final year with the Panthers, senior quarterback Aaron Bailey has undoubtedly made the most of his time, shattering records and making an impression that goes beyond athletics. The Bolingbrook, Ill, native immediately became a fan favorite for his exciting play and humble attitude. This support isn't lost on Bailey, who knows exactly what this university and community means to him.
"This place gave me the opportunity to further myself in terms of football and help me reach goals on and off the field," Bailey said. "The community is great and a very fun place to be".
The UNI community has been blessed to be a part of someone who's on field excitement, matches his off the field personality. Bailey attributes the person UNI received directly to those who inspired him growing up, his family.
"My parents and grandparents have always been there for me and told me what I needed to hear growing up," Bailey said. "They have been my biggest inspiration in life".
Going into his senior season, Bailey as well as the rest of the Panthers have simple, yet lofty expectations. Win a championship. As important as on the field success is, Bailey wants to be remembered away from the gridiron as well.
"I want to leave a lasting impact on the teams that will come after me on the field and in the community," Bailey said
With a tireless work ethic and irreplaceable drive Bailey is bound for great things when his time at UNI is done. Owning a resume that includes the Panther and MVFC records in rushing touchdowns (19) by a quarterback and a MVFC record in rushing yards by a quarterback (1,334), Bailey has a bright future.
An opportunity at the next level has always been the goal for Bailey, however he has many other things he would like to accomplish.
"My major is communications, so I've always wanted to do something with sports broadcasting because I love sports and feel really strong in that field," Bailey said.
One thing is for certain, whichever route Bailey chooses to go or throw, he will use the most of his time.
