2016 Football Season 59 Days Away

You know that sound.
It is a low rumbling that comes from the corner of the end zone. The sound of metal being pounded with adrenaline from what awaits inside.
To opposing teams and fans, it's just a garage. But it's more than that. To the Panthers, it's a door that leads to victory. A door that leads to their home, their fans, their Camelot. It leads to the KING-DOME. And purple will reign in 2016.
UNI advanced to the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs in 2015. The Panthers were one of eight teams out of 125 programs still playing in December. But it wasn't enough, and UNI is returning hungrier than ever for a trip to Frisco.
The Panthers return nine of its 11 offensive starters to the gridiron this fall and a young and fast defense that is ready to prove that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
The Panthers host five teams in 2016, three of which ended 2015 ranked in the top-15 in the country. UNI no is stranger to top-25 ranked teams, defeating 79 since 2001.
Montana, an FCS powerhouse, will enter the jungle for the first time since 1987 on Sep. 10 at 4 p.m., followed by Homecoming on Oct. 1 against MVFC foe Southern Illinois at 4 p.m. where the Panthers will fill the UNI-Dome with purple from end zone to end zone.
Oct. 22 UNI will host Family Weekend with a showdown against Missouri State at 1 p.m. And then there is Oct. 29, a game against five-time defending champions North Dakota State. The Panthers will play under the lights at 6 p.m. to darken out the green and yellow for its Black Out game.
Finishing up UNI's home schedule will be South Dakota State on Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. to celebrate 24 seniors, one of UNI's largest classes in recent years.
Vince Lombardi once said, "Winning means you're willing to go longer, work harder and give more than anyone else." UNI has that work ethic, they have the grit that will carry them into the 41st season in the UNI-Dome this fall.
UNI has 201 wins in the UNI-Dome. There are 59 days until the 2016 season begins. Will you be a part of it?
