UNI opens the season with exhibition play against the Maryville Saints on Monday, Nov. 7, the third exhibition game between the two teams since the 2011-12 season. The Panthers then hit the road to open the regular season at IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind. on Friday, Nov. 11.
Although still on the road, the Panthers return to the state of Iowa on Tuesday, Nov. 15 to take on the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames. UNI is then back in the McLeod Center on Sunday, Nov. 20 to host the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers for the first meeting between the two programs.
The Panthers are back on the road on Wednesday, Nov. 23 when they head to the Sooner State to take on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls for its second Big 12 opponent of the season.
UNI will spend Thanksgiving and its second week on the road in Phoenix, Ariz. as they play in the Grand Canyon Thanksgiving Tournament. The Panthers will battle the Idaho Vandals and the University of Denver Pioneers on Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26., two teams the Panthers have never faced before.
Head coach Tanya Warren and the team will then host the Summit League Tournament champions, South Dakota State, on Thursday, Dec. 1 before heading on its final road trip of the non-conference season to Iowa City to play in-state foe Iowa on Sunday, Dec. 4.
UNI's final three games before entering Missouri Valley Conference play will take place inside the McLeod Center, including Warren's alma mater Creighton making the trip to Cedar Falls on Saturday, Dec. 10. UNI also hosts North Dakota on Sunday, Dec. 18 and then closes out 2016 with a game against the Kansas State Wildcats on Thursday, Dec. 22.
In all, eight of UNI's 12 non-conference opponents played in post-season play during the 2015-16 season, with four of them seeing action in the NCAA Tournament.
Warren enters her 10th season at the helm for UNI, compiling a mark of 162-130, ranking her No. 2 all-time at UNI in coaching victories and No. 10 in the Valley. She led the Panthers to their second regular season MVC title last year before graduating four seniors.
UNI finished 2015-16 with a 24-11 record overall, marking the seventh consecutive season the Panthers have had 17-or-more wins. It's the second season under the direction of Warren that the Panthers have had 20-or-more wins, with the other coming in 2010-11.
UNI returns All-MVC first-team honoree Madison Weekly to the court this season along with Hannah Schonhardt and Angie Davison to make up the senior class and will also welcome three newcomers in freshmen Abby Gerrits and Megan Maahs along with graduate transfer Kennedy Kirkpatrick.
