UNI Names April Student-Athletes of Month

This month's honorees are Justin Baker (Kansas City, Kan.), Brette Correy (Epworth, Iowa), Kyle Driscoll (Hartland, Wis.) and Caitlin Wnek (Amana, Iowa).
Justin Baker - Track and Field
Baker set three school records during the month of April, including breaking his own record in the hammer throw twice and earning MVC Athlete of the Week honors. He has now set the hammer throw UNI record three times this outdoor season. The Sioux City, Iowa native broke both the hammer and shot put records at the Tom Botts Invitational and followed it up with another recording breaking performance in the hammer throw at the Drake Relays. Baker currently holds a personal-best in the hammer of 212-08.50 that ranks him No. 7 in the NCAA West Region and a PR in the shot put of 62-8.75 to also rank him No. 7 in the West Region.Â
Brette Correy - Track and Field
Correy posted a new personal-best time in the 800 meter run during the month of April, winning the event at the Musco Twilight. She came across the finish line against a stacked field in 2:06.85, shattering her previous personal-best, ranking her No. 22 in the NCAA West Region and No. 1 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Kyle Driscoll - Golf
Driscoll earned all-Missouri Valley Conference honors for the second straight season, becoming only the third UNI men's golfer to attain that feat in two more seasons. Driscoll tied for 11th the MVC Championship meet at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., with rounds of 68-77-78 (223). Driscoll's opening round 68 gave him the first-round lead at the MVC Championship. Driscoll tallied a 75.22 stroke average in the month of April.
Caitlin Wnek - Softball
During the month of April, Wnek posted a team-best .426 batting average while striking out zero times during 54 at-bats as she found herself top-10 nationally as one of the hardest batters in college softball to strikeout. Wnek added 17 RBI, five home runs and seven doubles during the month as the Panthers tallied a 12-7 record. Against Indiana State in UNI's MVC home opener, the senior went a perfect 2-2 at the plate with three RBI. During the month, Wnek recorded seven multi-hit performances and had three games with three or more RBI. Â
