CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI football's Jamison Whiting has been chosen to represent UNI and the Missouri Valley Conference at an NCAA student-leadership forum in Phoenix, Arizona, April 7-10.Â
The forum will consist of student athletes from every sport and division. The event will be led by more than 20 notable facilitators ranging from a variety of colleges and sports backgrounds.Â
Whiting, a junior defensive back with UNI has made his mark in the Panthers secondary, helping contribute to a defense that finished second in the conference in interceptions in 2015 and finished third in scoring defense. The Minneapolis, Minnesota, native has become a stalwart in the Panthers secondary.
At this forum, Whiting will participate in leadership discussions, listen to guest speakers and go through leadership training that will benefit his time on and off campus. Discussions also will focus on the NCAA's decision-making processes.Â
The conference will help these student-athletes learn various ways to address societal issues and concerns on their campuses. Whiting will be collaborating with other student-athletes to make the experience even more effective.
This is a very notable event and one in which the University of Northern Iowa is very proud to be represented. The university would like to congratulate Whiting on his selection and his continued growth as a person and player.
