Three Panthers Compete for Olympic Wrestling Team

SATURDAY
Men's freestyle (65 kg and 125 kg)
Women's freestyle (58 kg, 63 kg and 69 kg)

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Two former Panthers have earned top-eight seeds for at the Olympic wrestling trials set for this weekend in Iowa City.
Jordan Holm earned a top seed and will be the first Panther compete Saturday. He won the Pan-American Games Qualifier to earn an automatic bid to this weekend's trials. He will wrestle at 85 kilograms in the Greco-Roman division.
Joe Colon is seeded seventh at 57 kilograms in the freestyle division. Colon's third place at the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships is UNI's highest finish since Sean Stender took second in 2005. Colon is currently on the national team, which is reserved for the top three American wrestlers in each weight class.
Blaize Cabell is the only current UNI wrestler with a shot at making the U.S. Olympic team. Illness kept him from competing at this year's NCAA championships. He qualified by winning the 125-kilogram weight class at the Last Chance Qualifier last weekend in the UNI-Dome. He is expected to drop down to 97 kilograms and compete Sunday.
