UNI Soccer Releases 2016 Schedule

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa soccer program has announced its 2016 schedule, which will feature 10 home contests this season for first-year head coach Chris Logan.
The Panthers kick off their season in Iowa City with an in-state clash Aug. 12 against Iowa. This will be the 13th meeting between the two schools and will be hotly contested following last year's overtime thriller. UNI will follow by hosting Minnesota State, Mankato Aug. 16 in its home opener exhibition.
UNI will then make a Dakota road trip playing North Dakota Aug. 19, North Dakota State Aug. 21 and South Dakota State Aug. 26. The Panthers finish out August hosting St. Ambrose Aug. 28.
The Panthers open September with a road trip to Arkansas Sept. 1, followed by back-to-back home games against South Dakota and Midland University Sept. 4 and Sept. 7, respectively. UNI will look to add to its series edge against South Dakota, currently holding a 4-2-1 series lead.
Midway through September the Panthers will travel Eastern Illinois Sept. 11 and Kansas State Sept. 16. This will be the first match up between the Panthers and Eastern Illinois since a 2-0 Panthers win in 2013.
Finishing up September, the Panthers will take on Western Illinois Sept. 18, Missouri State Sept. 23 and Viterbo Sept. 25.
Heading into the end stretch of the 2016 season, the Panthers will begin October on a two-game Missouri Valley Conference road trip against Evansville Oct. 2 and Indiana State Oct. 8.Â
For the Panthers final home stand of the season they will host Drake Oct. 11, Loyola Oct. 16 and Iowa State in home finale Oct. 23. The intra-state matchup with Drake will be an intense rematch of last year's 1-1 double-overtime tie.
To finish off the 2016 regular season the Panthers will travel to Illinois State Oct. 27.Â
