Carnes Earns MVC Track Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Junior Brandon Carnes has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.
The All-American earned MVC Athlete of the Week three times during the indoor season, with today being his first outdoor recognition of the year. This is the Bradenton, Fla. native's fifth MVC Athlete of the Week honor in his career.
Carnes continued to keep himself ranked at the top of the Missouri Valley, turning in the two fastest times in the conference in the 100 and 200 meter dashes at the Tom Botts Invitational on April 16.
He finished second overall in the 100 meters, running a time of 10.27, ranking him No. 6 in the NCAA West Region and No. 10 in the entire country. He followed it up with a win in the 200 meter dash to remain undefeated this outdoor season, recording a time of 20.86 to push him into the No. 17 spot in the West.
Carnes will compete in the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational hosted by the University of Florida on Friday, April 22 while the rest of the team will take part in the Musco Invitational in Iowa City on Saturday, April 23.
