UNI Adds Adam McDermott to Roster

University of Northern Iowa head men's basketball coach Ben Jacobson has announced the addition of transfer Adam McDermott to the Panther roster.
McDermott (6'4", 185 lbs., Guard) averaged 6.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in 32 games as a true freshman at the University of North Dakota. McDermott scored a career-high 28 points and made eight three-pointers in a 76-60 win over Idaho State (Feb. 4).
He led Cedar Rapids Xavier High School to its best season in school history as a senior in 2014-15 under the direction of head coach Ryan Luehrsmann. McDermott averaged 18.0 ppg in helping lead the Saints to a school-record 18 wins and third-place finish at the Class 3A State Tournament. He earned Iowa Newspaper Association Class 3A first-team all-state honors as a senior. McDermott averaged 16.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 1.5 spg as a junior and earned INA Class 3A third-team all-state honors. He also earned first-team Mississippi Valley Conference honors for the Valley Division as a junior and senior.
McDermott will sit out the 2016-17 season and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining beginning in the 2017-18 season.
He is the son of Scott and Jill McDermott. He is the nephew of UNI Hall of Fame member and former men's basketball head coach Greg McDermott.
