BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team opened up play Monday at the 2016 ORU Shootout played at Forest Ridge Country Club. The Panthers played 36 holes Monday and will finish the 54-hole tournament with 18 holes Tuesday morning.
UNI's Dustin Atkinson is tied for 26th after posting rounds of 79-73 (152). Atkinson birdied No. 9 on his opening 18. He drained three birdies on his closing 18 at No. 5, No. 13 and No. 18.
Kyle Driscoll tallied his team-leading 22nd sub-80 round of the season with a 74 in the second round. Driscoll is in 36th place after posting scores of 80-74 (154). Driscoll recorded his lone birdie of the day at No. 18 in the second round.
Jacob Bermel is tied for 50th after notching rounds of 78-79 (157). Bermel tallied birdies at No. 15 and No. 18 in the morning 18, he then posted birdies at No. 6 and No. 18 in the afternoon 18.
David Spangler is tied for 66th after posted rounds of 81-80. Spangler notched his lone birdie of the day at No. 5 in his afternoon round.
UNI is in 10th place in the team standings after rounds of 318-306 (624). Arkansas State holds the team lead after posting rounds of 294-289 (583).
