Weekly Named MVC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Junior guard Madison Weekly has been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, it was announced by league officials.
Weekly was integral in helping UNI secure its second MVC regular-season championships and the No. 1 seed in the MVC Tournament by scoring 20+ points in back-to-back games. She has now scored 20 or more points in four of the last six games, giving her an averaging of 17.7 points per game this season.
She started the weekend with 21 points in UNI's win over Southern Illinois, shooting 50-percent from the field while adding four assists. She followed it up with 20 points against Evansville, giving her 514 total points so far this season, making her just the eighth player in UNI history to score 500 or more points in a season, ranking her sixth all-time.
She tied her career-high in free throws made against the Purple Aces, knocking down nine at the charity stripe, while also turning in three assists, three rebounds, one block and one steal. She is now ranked No. 4 all-time as a Panther in season scoring average and No. 12 all-time in career scoring with 1,158 through 86 games.
Weekly and the Panthers will return to action on Friday, March 11 when they play the winner of Game 1 (Wichita State vs. Bradley, Thursday, March 10) at noon.
