DALLAS, Texas - The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team shaved 12 shots off its opening round total and posted a team score of 299 on day two of the Bob Sitton Invitational. The tournament is being played at the TPC Four Seasons in Dallas.
UNI's Kyle Driscoll went on a birdie binge Tuesday with seven birdies on his scorecard. Driscoll fired a 2-under par 69 with birdies at holes No. 1, No. 3, No. 6, No. 7, No. 11, No. 13 and No. 14. Driscoll is tied for 11th in the tournament with a two-round total of 146 (+4).
Dustin Atkinson fired his second straight 3-over round of 74. Atkinson recorded 13 pars and and a birdie at No. 16. Atkinson is in 18th place after a two-round performance of 148 (+6).
Jared Rowe knocked nine shots off his opening-round score and posted a round of 77 (+6). Rowe scored birdies at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 7.
David Spengler is playing the tournament as an individual and he recorded a four-over 78. Spengler tallied birdies at No. 4 and No. 8.
Long Beach State holds the second-round team lead with scores of 285-288--573. UNI is in 15th place with rounds of 311-299--621.
The third and final round will take place Thursday.
