Morgan, Lohaus, Friedman Named Scholar-Athletes

The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball squad had three players honored on the MVC's Scholar-Athlete team.
Junior Jeremy Morgan (Coralville, Iowa) earned first-team Scholar-Athlete honors after having posted a cumulative 3.21 GPA while majoring in management: business administration. Morgan has started all 31 games. He is the only player in the league to lead his team in rebounds (161), steals (60) and blocks (24). He ranks fifth in the MVC in field goal percentage (.474). Morgan ranks fourth on the Panthers in scoring (10.2 ppg).
Sophomore Wyatt Lohaus (North Liberty, Iowa) was named to the second-team Scholar-Athlete squad. Lohaus has a 3.28 cumulative GPA and is majoring in movement and exercise science. He has come off the bench in all 31 of his appearances this season. Lohaus ignited UNI with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists in a 53-50 win at No. 25-ranked Wichita State (Feb. 13). He has buried 81.0 percent of his free throws (17-of-21).
Sophomore Ted Friedman tallied honorable mention Scholar-Athlete status. Friedman owns a 3.96 cumulative GPA with a double major in finance and psychology. Friedman has played in all 31 games averaging 1.1 points and 1.1 rebounds per game. He scored a career-high eight points at Richmond (Dec. 5). Friedman has been credited with 11 rebounds in MVC play.
Morgan is UNI's 12th different player to earn multiple MVC Scholar-Athlete honors. (NOTE: Nick Pace earned scholar-athlete honors twice in the Mid-Continent and once in the MVC.)
