Lindstrom Named MVC Field Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Senior throws standout Jamie Lindstrom was named Missouri Valley Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.

This is Lindstrom's first MVC Athlete of the Week honor of the season. The Hudson, Wis. native has been a consistent point scorer for the Panthers at the MVC indoor and outdoor championships and now sits on UNI's all-time list in the indoor shot put and weight throw along with the outdoor shot put, hammer throw and discus.

Lindstrom highlighted a strong outing for the Panthers at the Wisconsin Open on Feb. 19, posting two huge marks in the women's shot put and weight throw.

Lindstrom got things started in the shot put, throwing a career-best of 52-10.75 for second place in the competition. The mark moves her into second in the MVC and second all-time at UNI along with a top-30 ranking in the country. The senior followed it up with a season-best in the weight throw, going 60-11.25 for fourth overall, ranking her fifth in the conference.

Lindstrom and the Panthers will return to action this weekend when they host the MVC Indoor Championships, Feb. 27-28. The meet will be held in the UNI-Dome with tickets costing $10 for adults and $5 for youth and college students.
